The Home for Little Wanderers in Massachusetts acts as a safe haven for many of the children in the state who are part of the staggering statistics of neglect and abuse, providing therapeutic programming residential and non-residential programs. In 2019 the Spartan Kids Foundation donated 100 free passes to the Spartan Race at Fenway Park, as a fundraiser for the Home.
Below is a letter from Rick Houpt, Senior Manager, Corporate Relations at The Home for Little Wanderers:
“On behalf of the kids and families of The Home for Little Wanderers, I want to thank you for your extraordinary gift of 100 free passes to Sunday’s Spartan Race at Fenway Park. Because of your generosity, the 2019 Spartans for The Home team numbered 112! More than twice our size last year. And those 112 Spartans raised almost $36,000.00!! That’s almost 3x what we raised last year! This was our fourth year participating in The Fenway Race and we blew our numbers out of the WATER! We had more companies represented than ever before, and even had a group from Bentley University join the team, run around Fenway, and raise money for our kids and families. We had Millennials to Baby-boomers, to everything in between. Our oldest Spartan for The Home teammate (65 years old) was adopted from The Home 60 years ago. And we had some teammates sign up a couple of their kids to run in the Kids Race. We had serious athletes to weekend warriors. We had experienced Spartans to first-timers. We had some of the fastest times and some of the slowest (but no quitters!!)”
